Hair Transplant London
If you’re looking for a hair loss solution in or near London, you may want to consider a hair transplant. This treatment is a type of surgical hair replacement, whereby hair follicles are taken from a donor area to recipient site. Each individual follicle is moved one at a time, transporting them to the area which is bald or thinning. The donor site is usually chosen as the area is genetically resistant to balding, so it has minimal impact as hair continues to grow.
Hair transplants are most commonly used to restore thinning hair or bald spots, but it can also be used for eyelashes, eyebrows, moustaches and beard hair. Additionally, it can be used to fill in scars that may have been caused by an accident or previous inadequate hair transplants or facelifts. The surgical technique is considered minimally invasive as it requires grafts to be taken from the donor area. The most important part of this procedure is not the hair itself, but the follicle, as this will enable the hair to continue to grow in its new place.
Two different techniques may be used for hair transplantation, known as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) or strip harvesting. In the first type of treatment – FUE – each follicular unit is removed individually (each follicle contains between one and four hairs). Strip harvesting used to be more common, but it is best for those who require lots of grafts to fill a larger area with hair as the strip of hair follicles taken covers around 1–1.5 x 15–30 cm. When the follicles are place into the desired area, each follicle will sit in a predetermined area where the surgeon makes tiny punctures for optimum density and pattern, enabling you to later see a realistic and consistent hair pattern result.
Whichever type of treatment you opt for, both will be undertaken with local anaesthetic, requiring one day of surgery. After the procedure, there will be some swelling or redness in the treatment area, and the healing process will take between five to seven days. Within the days and weeks following the treatment, you will notice the outline of your new hairline taking shape. Within a year, you will be able to look forward to your hair being fully regrown.

Whilst nothing can stop the natural process of hair loss, hair transplants work by removing individual hair follicles from the back of your head, and replanting these hairs from the donor site to the recipient site (the area of balding).
In addition to the head, this technique can also be applied to restore eyelashes, eyebrows, moustaches and beards. It can also be used to treat areas of the scalp where you may have had scarring due to an accident or previous surgical procedure. Hairs are chosen from the parts that are genetically resistant to balding, with minimally invasive process taking grafts of each hair and its follicle.
