Hair Transplants
A surgical hair transplant typically involves one of two different techniques. One is call FUE -Follicular Unit Extraction – which involves the harvesting and implanting of individual hair follicles from the healthy site of hair growth to the damaged site. The surgeon will predetermine the exact location of each of the new places for your hair to regrow, to ensure that you get the natural pattern and look you want, and the correct coverage is achieved. This means that during the consultation the team will get an idea of what level of hair transplant is required before the process is undertaken. Strip Harvesting is the other type of technique used for hair transplants. However, this is only used when large areas need grafting, rather than the more common thinning of hair caused by genetics or hormonal changes. I am working hard on this topic.
Hair Transplant Recovery
As the procedures are completed in one day, and under local anaesthetic, the recovery process is usually quite quick, with some swelling and soreness in the area for about a week afterwards.
